In 2020 we are celebrating our 70th year anniversary of education in art. We continue to offer a Bachelors degree in visual arts through the University of Guanajuato. We offer art workshops and classes to the general public in weaving, jewelry, sculpture, painting and printmaking, as well as other media and art forms on an occasional basis, taught by nationally and internationally known professors. In addition to art classes we also offer group and private Spanish lessons for those learning it as a second language.

During the fall and spring we offer Lifelong Learning Program, an academically oriented program that presents short courses for adults designed for the enjoyment of learning in a variety of areas including literature, science, design, politics, history, culture, and more.

During the summer we host students from universities in the United States. We have worked with Texas A&M University, Kent University, Loyola Marymount University, Tennessee State University, and Colegio Sunland, among others. We create a personalized program with each university to ensure that their students grow personally and professionally during their time here.

The Instituto Allende places a high value on giving back to the community through social programs related to culture and art. We work with rural public schools in the San Miguel de Allende area, offering art education programs to isolated and low-income children. These programs help elementrary school students to become creative individuals with knowledge, skills and abilities that allow them to use art as a means to consider and resolve personal and community issues.

For seventy years the Instituto Allende has provided the opportunity to take courses designed for self-enrichment, intellectual and creative stimulation, and fun. We believe that knowledge is power, and that power must be shared. We intend to maintain our mission for the next seventy years.
