RODARTE

RODAR AL ARTE Creating Ties with the Community.

RODARTE is a community art education program, a project whose goal is to provide art workshops to promote artistic development for low-income children in isolated rural communities near San Miguel de Allende.
In conjunction with the Instituto Allende, 360 Saturday workshops were held over eight years in several rural primary schools — Emiliano Zapata in the community of Fajardo de Boca, Juan Álvarez in the community of La Lagunilla, and Ignacio López Rayon in La Campana. Our workshops are held during the school year to give the children a safe place for creation and development.
General Objetive

RODARTE aims to train creativity and critical thinking, along with the knowledge and skills that enable children to detect and solve problems related to the creation, analysis, evaluation, and management of images, especially those of an artistic nature, as well as to teach and ensure the transmission of the attitudes, knowledge, skills and values involved in the process.

Specific Objective

Specifically, RODARTE’s goals are to help children in these ways.

1. Improve the quality of life of students and their parents.
2. Provide an art education program of high quality.
3. Develop fine motor skills and psychomotor control.
4. Use varied techniques to develop tactile and visual textures of varying complexity, leading children to discover new possibilities of expression.
5. Include attention to reading, science, and math, when relevant.
6. Help children heal from negative experiences in their lives through artistic expression, with the help of a staff psychologist.
7. Emphasize the value of education to children’s futures.

We raise money for RODARTE by holding fairs and bazaars that support local and national Mexican artisans, designers and entrepreneurs, thereby creating an enjoyable and safe place for artistic commerce at reasonable prices. The funds we raise are handled with transparency and honesty: one hundred percent of what we collect is used to carry out the operation of RODARTE. These expenses include salaries for teachers and assistants, gasoline for transportation, and art materials. We donate the use of our vehicles.

We believe that art is a means to reflect, transform and develop the human spirit. Art reinvents the world, and celebrates life and freedom.
