Stone Sculpture

This workshop is taught by Maestro Gerardo Bervera, a graduate of the National School of Painting, Sculpture, and Engraving, La Esmeralda; and by Maestro Rafael Soria, expert jeweler with long experience in sculptural stone polishing.

Discover the strength, beauty, and mystery of each piece of stone you work on. Because no two pieces of stone are entirely alike, it is a great pleasure to know from your personal experience the variations in hardness, color and particular properties of each piece, from a river stone to jade, quartz, and obsidian.

You will carve stone using diamond disc cutters and other carving equipment and tools, in the process learning the best sculptural techniques.

This workshop is a continuous workshop, meaning that you are able to start at any time. The minimum enrollment for Stone Sculpture is two weeks, a total of 18 hours of class time, but we recommend three weeks (27 class hours) for optimum learning and creation. The cost of the stones is not included in the tuition, but you can purchase them from the professor. The price of each stone varies depending on the weight, size and type of stone selected according to each student’s need. The approximate cost of materials for this workshop is $40 to $50 USD.

To reserve the date you would like to study, we require a deposit that is applied to your final tuition. Tuition must be paid in full by the first day of class.
