The Mexican Popular Art workshop "Alebrijes" is a two-week course, 18 lective hours. That provides an approach through the national world of crafts, their generalities and main languages ​​and specifically the famous Alebrijes, fantastic mystical animals whose function is to be a spiritual guide for the people they choose.

The practices will be based on the traditional method of the Alebrijes of Mexico City made with the technique of papier-mâché or cardboard. Although the activities carried out will be complemented according to the worldview of Ancient Mexico, specifically on the tonás (mythical and protective animals that share destiny and the soul with the person) and nahuales (animals fused with humans, considered as spiritual guides). Alebrijes are a mixture of real and fantastic animals, ceremonial figures full of life and color, which represent one of the most original and fun sides of Mexican crafts.
