Wooden frames, rather than looms, are used to weave smaller pieces such as pillow covers, small wall hangings, placemats, small ponchos etc. Experimenting with different stiches and colors, this traditional style of weaving permits a variety of textures and designs in each piece. The frames range from 30 X 40 cm to 60 X 100 cm, chosen according to the requirements of your project. You will be using only 100% natural wool.

This workshop is a continuous workshop, meaning that you are able to start at any time. The minimum enrollment for Off-Loom Weaving is one week (9 class hours) to complete a small project. We recommend a minimum of four weeks (36 class hours) for a more extensive experience and deeper learning and for more ambitious projects.

Materials are not included in the tuition cost. You can purchase the wool, naturally or chemically dyed, from the instructor or bring your own. Wool prepared and sold at the school costs approximately $10 USD per kilo.

To reserve the date you would like to study, we require a deposit that is applied to your final tuition. Tuition must be paid in full by the first day of class.
